March is National Craft Month

Crafting is a great way to relax and express yourself. Learning a new craft or technique is easy today with youtube and all of the how to’s offered by various websites.  Virtually anything you want to learn can be found on youtube.

Here are some tips to make your crafting experience even better.

Keep organized

I know that often times keeping yourself organized is easier said than done but it does make life easier.

Try keeping your craft materials in plastic bins, closet organizers or baskets. I like to keep each project I’m working on in its own plastic bin so I have the instructions, all the tools and materials I need in a shoe box sized bin with a lid. That way I can keep my projects clean and dust free until I can get back to it.   The bins also stack nicely on a shelf.

Craft in a clear area

Try to keep the area you craft in free of clutter so you can focus on your project.

 Craft with a friend

Share your crafting experience with your kids, family or friends. Learn from each while enjoying each other’s company. Turn on some favorite music and relax and enjoy the experience.

Take a break

Be sure and get up every once in a while to stretch and walk around when crafting for long periods of time.

Don't be afraid to try a new craft

Have you always wanted to learn a new craft but somehow never got around to actually doing it?  Don't put up roadblocks to creativity.  Don't be afraid to branch out and expand your crafting skills and know how.  Who knows?  Maybe a new craft will become your favorite craft.

Most importantly, enjoy yourself

Crafting is a way to express yourself. And don’t get discouraged if your project isn’t turning out the way you envisioned it.   Practice makes perfect!

Happy crafting!
